MOTORHEAD – Overkill (50th Anniversary) Vinyl

Description

Limited 50th Anniversary Turquoise & Blue Coloured Vinyl Pressing Incl. Poster!

“Overkill,” the formidable second studio album by Motrhead, unleashed a new dimension of sound when it was released in March 1979. The album is not merely a collection of songs but an emblem of Motrhead’s intense, fast-paced, and groundbreaking style, often regarded as a precursor to the thrash metal genre. It marked the band’s first collaboration with Bronze Records, setting the stage for a transformative era in rock music.

Recorded at Wessex Studios in London and produced by Jimmy Miller, known for his work with the Rolling Stones, “Overkill” features a relentless barrage of sound characterized by Lemmy’s growling vocals and thunderous bass, Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor’s pioneering double bass drumming on the title track, and “Fast” Eddie Clarke’s razor-sharp guitar riffs.

“Overkill” remains a historic album that not only defined Motrhead’s career but also left an indelible mark on the landscape of heavy metal, and it features standout tracks like “Stay Clean” and “No Class,” which has gone on to become anthems for the disenchanted.
